CY MAKES A FRIEND A Lonely Cyclops Discovers How to Make a Friend

“A tale of encouragement and gumption.” -- Kirkus Reviews

Honesdale, Pennsylvania March 2017 -- Boyds Mills Press, an imprint of Highlights, is pleased to announce the publication of CY MAKES A FRIEND, written Ann Marie Stephens and illustrated by Tracy Subisak.  The picture book for young readers ages 3 - 7 will be published on March 7, 2017.

Cy is a Cyclops who knows how to make just about anything—except a friend. Even practicing skills such as making eye contact and winking doesn’t seem to help.  Then Cy remembers that it’s nice to share, so he turns his talent for making things to creating a special something just right for two.

This charming tale about finding and making a friend is ideal for children who struggle with friendships, yet the book celebrates kindness, generosity, and being true to yourself.  In addition, an author’s note with information about Cyclopes and the many other mythological creates in the book is included.

School Library Journal says CY MAKES A FRIEND is a “well-written, gentle tale” that “will be a hit with shy kids…a sweet and funny look at dealing with social issues.”
