O'Hare, Jeffrey

As executive editor of puzzle publications for Highlights for Children, Jeff O'Hare has responsibility for the company's highly successful "Puzzlemania" books, a continuing series for kids. He also develops puzzle and activity books for Highlights and Boyds Mills Press, and reviews all such submissions from free-lance writers. He currently edits The Fun Zone, a new puzzle magazine.Jeff grew up on Long Island and earned a B.S. in English Education from New York University. He earned an M.A. in professional writing from the University of Southern California, then stayed in Los Angeles as a writer for such cartoon programs as The Smurfs, Space Ghost, and Scooby-Doo. Before coming to Highlights, Jeff worked for The Caption Center in New York, writing closed captions for the hearing impaired for television.Jeff is an avid collector of super-hero toys, comic books, and fantasy books. He is the author of The Doonesbury Trivia Book, Searching Safari, and several game books.Jeff is a member of Mensa, the Baker Street Irregulars, and the Writers Guild of America. He and his wife, Virginia, have a two-year-old daughter and a new son.
