Myers, Jack

The eldest son of Highlights Founders Dr. Gary Cleveland Myers and Caroline Clark Myers, Jack is the senior science editor of Highlights. His desire to share how things work in nature flows naturally from his own love for science. He displays an extraordinary ability to answer difficult scientific questions without talking down to young readers. His friendly, easygoing style engages young readers while stimulating their curiosity.Jack researches and writes many features on science for Highlights, and responds to letters sent by readers in "Science Letters." The "Science Corner" feature is one of his favorites because it provides him with the opportunity to bring into focus simple ideas of science for the magazine's youngest readers. He also evaluates and edits science manuscripts from freelance writers for Highlights and Boyds Mills Press.A member of the National Academy of Sciences, Jack is a professor emeritus of zoology at the University of Texas.
