Barbara Brenner has written more than sixty books for children and adults and is widely known for her fiction and nonfiction related to nature. Five of her books have received awards for Outstanding Book on a Science Subject from the National Association of Science Teachers.Among her many other awards are the American Library Association's Notable Book Award for Wagon Wheels and A Snake-Lover's Diary. Her latest book, Where's That Insect? will be a Book-of-the-Month Club selection, and On the Frontier with Mr. Audubon was selected by School Library Journal as "The Best of the Best" among the books published for children over twenty-six publishing seasons.Barbara's work has been anthologized widely in reading series for all grades, and she is a sought-after lecturer. A particular interest has been writing with children, and she has taught teachers and given children's workshops on writing as a creative tool.Barbara is a member of numerous professional organizations, and in 1985 she was selected as a Distinguished Pennsylvania Author of the Year. She and her husband, Fred Brenner, have two grown sons.
